Retiree President Speaks to Statewide Rally

Texas Alliance for Retired Americans President Annie Banks addressed the statewide rally for health care at the Capitol on November 14. She drew big applause for her speaking style and for showing the all-important relationship between retirees and the rest of America needing health care reform. Banks is popular among union audiences, and many unionists were there.

Doggett urged the crowd to make no concessions in their demand for decent health care reform. The Texas AFL-CIO saw to it that the demands of the rally were as progressive as possible.
