RETIREES AGREE ON BIG 3 ISSUES!

The central issues for Texas retirees are Social Security, pensions and health care. Rational retirees, whether union members or other salaried workers, agree on these issues and can benefit from pulling together.

In early 2012, American Airlines, one of Texas' largest employers, announced that they would use bankruptcy proceedings to dump their pension obligations. People should clear their thinking on this.

Those pensions never belonged to American Airlines. They are earned income of their employees. The employees took some of their earnings in the form of salaries, some of it went for taxes, and some of it was put aside for their retirement. But it was and is theirs, not the property of American Airlines.

If the bankruptcy judge abets American Airlines in stealing those employees' money, let's call it what it is!
